GrowStation
Data & privacy

Your camera never leaves your machine.

GrowStation turns your camera into a controller. This page explains, in plain language, what we look at, what we keep, and what we never touch β€” no jargon, no fine print you need a lawyer for.

01

Video stays local

Your camera feed is processed on your own device, frame by frame, to read gestures. It is never uploaded or recorded.

02

No facial ID, ever

We track skeletal motion points, not identity. GrowStation doesn't build a face profile or recognize who you are.

03

You stay in control

Camera access, gesture sets, and stored preferences can be viewed, changed, or wiped from Settings at any time.

The full policy

Every section below is exactly what it sounds like. Tap one to expand it.

1. Information we collect

Camera and motion data. While GrowStation is running, your webcam or USB camera feed is read in real time to detect body, hand, or facial position. This is converted into motion coordinates (points and angles) entirely on your device. Raw video frames are discarded immediately after each frame is processed and are never written to disk or sent anywhere.

Device and usage data. We collect basic technical information β€” operating system version, GrowStation version, crash logs, and which gesture sets or games are launched β€” so we can fix bugs and improve tracking accuracy.

Account and contact data. If you subscribe to our newsletter or contact support, we collect your email address and the contents of your message.

2. How we use your information

We use device and usage data to keep GrowStation stable, diagnose calibration issues, and prioritize which gestures and games to support next. We use contact data only to reply to you or to send the release notes and product updates you asked for. We do not use camera or motion data for advertising, and we do not build behavioral profiles from how you move.

3. What we never do with camera data
  • We do not record, save, or export your camera feed.
  • We do not upload video frames to any server.
  • We do not perform facial recognition or identity matching.
  • We do not sell or share motion data with advertisers.
4. Sharing your information

We don't sell personal data. We may share limited technical data (such as anonymized crash reports) with service providers who help us run infrastructure, such as hosting and error-monitoring tools, under agreements that limit their use of it to supporting GrowStation. We may also disclose information if required to comply with a valid legal request, such as a subpoena or court order.

5. Cookies and local storage

Our website uses local storage to remember your language preference and theme (light or dark). It does not use tracking cookies to follow you across other sites. The GrowStation desktop app stores your gesture-set preferences and calibration settings locally on your machine only.

6. Data retention and security

Camera frames are never retained β€” they exist only for the fraction of a second needed to detect a gesture. Account data (like your email, if you've subscribed) is kept only as long as you stay subscribed or until you ask us to delete it. We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect the limited data we do hold.

7. Children's privacy

GrowStation is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Your rights and choices

You can turn off camera access at any time from your operating system's privacy settings β€” GrowStation simply won't be able to track motion until it's re-enabled. You can request a copy of the limited account data we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as the right to object to certain processing or to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

9. International data transfers

Because camera and motion data never leave your device, there is nothing to transfer internationally there. The limited account data we do hold (like a support email) may be processed by service providers located in other countries; when that happens, we rely on standard safeguards such as contractual data-protection terms.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know inside the app before the change takes effect.
